WORDS TO LIVE BY
“I think everything in life is art. What you do. How you dress. The way you love someone, and how you talk. Your smile and your personality. What you believe in, and all your dreams. The way you drink your tea. How you decorate your home. Or party. Your grocery list. The food you make. How your writing looks. And the way you feel. Life is art.”
― Helena Bonham Carter

Filled with whimsy and calculation, Cosmic Bloom at Hashimoto Contemporary brings together the vibrant practices of the Brooklyn-based duo CHIAOZZA and the Dallas-based artist Rachel Strum. Together, the new paintings, sculptures, collages, and works in between embody dynamic duality and relationality, creating unexpected representations of the world around us situated between naturally occurring and artificially manipulated. - Brooklyn to Dallas to the Bay: CHIAOZZA & Rachel Strum Team for "Cosmic Bloom" @ Hashimoto Contemporary, San Francisco - via Juxtapoz
Field of Dreams, her latest exhibition, currently on view at SITE Santa Fe, pulses with themes of chosen family, love for one’s child, and reflections on the many selves that we have inhabited. The gallery space consists of mostly large, intricately hand-stitched collages hanging freely on the walls, which viewers can inspect closely enough to see the fabric move in response to their breath. - Billie Zangewa’s Tableaus of Togetherness - via Hyperallergic
Hunt, who is best known for creating large-scale collages, sought self-knowledge through her art; her studio is where she would work ideas out and consider the histories and traditions that shaped the world in which she lived. In the multimedia works she created, sustainability was at the center of her material choices—paper scraps along with her signature gold leaf. But formally, things were even deeper, with references that included quilts that enslaved Africans used to help navigate the Underground Railroad. - Remembering Artist and Designer Lisa Hunt - via Elle Decor
Local mixed media artist and maker of things, Claudette Hasenjager started her career shortly after giving birth to her sixth child in 2018. She felt stuck and had a deep desire to do something different – something that would both challenge and nurture her. Hasenjager decided to start a year-long project of creating a collage a day for 365 days. - Visualising success through creativity - via Bloemfontein Courant

Our 2024 Workbook is out and available for sale on our website. Our weekly creative challenge remains free and open to everyone and everything, digital or analog artists, French or not. The workbook is an optional add-on for those who prefer to work with paper and don’t want to print our images themselves. Like every year, the book is designed so that you can either take it apart or create your collages in the book itself. Week numbers and image sources are on the back of each image, so even if your books falls apart at one point, you will always know what’s what!
And last but not least, have a look at and/or submit to our ‘other’ Instagram account Paris Collage Collective Unlimited where we showcase collages that have absolutely nothing to do with our weekly creative challenge.
