WORDS TO LIVE BY
“The arts are not just a nice thing to have or to do if there is free time or if one can afford it. Rather, paintings and poetry, music and fashion, design and dialogue, they all define who we are as a people and provide an account of our history for the next generation.”
― Michelle Obama

NEWS
Our International Women’s Day Open Call always suffered a little from coming right after fun-filled Februllage, so we were torn about bringing it back. But some of you may not need or want a well-deserved break after a month of daily collage making, or can handle both at the same time, so here we go:
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to create a collage or mixed media piece with your take on current feminist issues. There is no image prompt.
Due to popular demand, there will however be printed editions of both of this year’s Open Calls (International Women’s Day & Earth Day), similar to the ones we created for our Rachid Taha and Surrealist Dreams Open Calls.
Only a selection of submitted collages can be included in the print edition, depending on the number of participants of course, but keep in mind that our Earth Day Open Call will be in April, so you’ll get another chance.
There are no participation fees (and before you ask, you can submit as many collages as you want) but there will be no free copies at the end of this open call either. You can as always purchase your copy from our website. Please keep this in mind. All information here

Paolozzi’s various approaches to collage work is rightfully given attention in this exhibition too. There are an almost infinite number of these in galleries, museums and private collections across the world. One shown here Collage (1953) bequeathed by Gabrielle Keiller is a nice example of where the artist’s magpie habit of collecting tickets and scraps of magazines, comes together with fragments of his experimental printmaking at the Central School. - Paolozzi at 100 - via Studio International
My studio is filled with art and materials made and collected over the years. I realized recently that I need never buy more materials if I re-purpose those already in my studio. I collect unfinished knitting or crochet projects I find in thrift stores and use them in collages and sculptures. Here I am working on a series of abstract collages using some crocheted pieces, adding them to wood panels, then adding some thread and paint to bring them into the language of painting. - A View From the Easel - via Hyperallergic
Two temporary exhibitions opened on Thursday at the Vasarely Museum in Budapest. Our 2024 Workbook is out and available for sale on our website. Our weekly creative challenge remains free and open to everyone and everything, digital or analog artists, French or not. The workbook is an optional add-on for those who prefer to work with paper and don’t want to print our images themselves. Like every year, the book is designed so that you can either take it apart or create your collages in the book itself. Week numbers and image sources are on the back of each image, so even if your books falls apart at one point, you will always know what’s what!
And last but not least, have a look at and/or submit to our ‘other’ Instagram account Paris Collage Collective Unlimited where we showcase collages that have absolutely nothing to do with our weekly creative challenge.
If you have any news about exhibitions, publications or events you want so share with the community, please send an email with all relevant information and at least one link to a website or venue to: hello@pariscollagecollective.com
