“I think a lot about being of the Diaspora, being an immigrant, and what it means to have a home,” said Soleimani. “I think home is actually just a collage of a bunch of different things, and collage is also really important in my practice.” In layering and building her images, Soleimani contemplates ways in which we assign hierarchy based on perception of the subject — including whether it is living or animate — and whether that hierarchy can be flattened. - Inside the Life of Bird-Rehabilitator-Artist-Professor Sheida Soleimani - via Hyperallergic
Lily Greenham: An Art of Living showcases Greenham’s pioneering works in the area of sound poetry and lingual music, alongside her works of op, kinetic, and computer art, which are represented in international collections. The exhibition focuses on the radical nature of Greenham’s polyphonic, polylingual, multinational, and feminist works. Greenham’s restless shifts between diverse places, languages, and disciplines are closely bound up with her biography, which gave rise to her continual receptivity—even early on—to new phenomena, languages, and contexts. She consistently interrogated what it means to communicate as an artist: she explored these multiple dimensions across different art forms. Greenham’s play with language and identity led to the cultivation of a truly unique artistic practice, encompassing etchings, collages, poems, texts, and computer graphics, along with a large archive of sound works. - Lily Greenham: An Art of Living - via e-flux
Todd Gray assembles his photographs so as to draw attention to what remains outside the frame, as much as on the content inside. The artist’s intricately constructed collages of pictures that he takes in various parts of the world – from the wetlands of Ghana to the Palais de Versailles – are akin to poetic verses. Like a carefully chosen word, each image joins a constellation of a few, and together, they reveal uncharted meanings beyond the seen. Through framing cut-out portions from his own archive, the artist frees the image from a singular narrative. - Todd Gray’s sculptural photography collages defy dimension, linearity and narrative - via Wallpaper

Our 2024 Workbook is out and available for sale on our website. Our weekly creative challenge remains free and open to everyone and everything, digital or analog artists, French or not. The workbook is an optional add-on for those who prefer to work with paper and don’t want to print our images themselves. Like every year, the book is designed so that you can either take it apart or create your collages in the book itself. Week numbers and image sources are on the back of each image, so even if your books falls apart at one point, you will always know what’s what!
And last but not least, have a look at and/or submit to our ‘other’ Instagram account Paris Collage Collective Unlimited where we showcase collages that have absolutely nothing to do with our weekly creative challenge.
