WORDS TO LIVE BY
“All of our days are numbered; we cannot afford to be idle. To act on a bad idea is better than to not act at all because the worth of the idea never becomes apparent until you do it. Sometimes this idea can be the smallest thing in the world, a little flame that you hunch over and cup with your hand and pray will not be extinguished by all the storm that howls about it. If you can hold on to that flame great things can be constructed around it that are massive and powerful and world changing – all held up by the tinniest of ideas.”

NEWS
I have everything I need within reach. Fabrics and collage materials are sorted into color baskets. My workspace is very small, so supplies are piled on shelves and in drawers. If my space were larger I’d likely work on more pieces at a time and be able to spread out. I feel very comfortable in my spaces even though the upstairs studio is open to the rest of the house. - A View From the Easel - via Hyperalleric
Judging by Eric Firestone’s recent programming (woe to New Yorkers who missed a recent show about the Godzilla collective), the gallery gets what means success for a group show. No color, pattern, or material overstays its welcome; each addition enriches the lot, all in service of a grand purpose. The gallery’s booth at Expo is much of the same, a vibrant medley of paintings, ceramics, and collages. A 1967–70 painting from Regina Granne is among the more interesting nudes on the sales floor, and a 2024 black and white collage from Cato, a London-based artist and musician, is a promising teaser for his forthcoming show at the gallery. - The Best Booths at Expo Chicago, from an Ode to Hometown Heroes to Solo Showcases - via ARTnews
“The process of creating these images is as important to me as the finished work,” Poehler says. She creates about 20 to 25 pieces a year. Because seaweed is seasonal, she has to work with a limited palette at any given time. Sometimes Poehler creates an entire collage from what is in season all at once. At others, she lays down pieces over time as they become available, thereby stretching out the creation process over the course of many months. - The ebb and flow of nature.

Our 2024 Workbook is out and available for sale on our website. Our weekly creative challenge remains free and open to everyone and everything, digital or analog artists, French or not. The workbook is an optional add-on for those who prefer to work with paper and don’t want to print our images themselves. Like every year, the book is designed so that you can either take it apart or create your collages in the book itself. Week numbers and image sources are on the back of each image, so even if your books falls apart at one point, you will always know what’s what!
And last but not least, have a look at and/or submit to our ‘other’ Instagram account Paris Collage Collective Unlimited where we showcase collages that have absolutely nothing to do with our weekly creative challenge.
