WORDS TO LIVE BY
“Creativity is not so much a boundless well, but an all-you-can-eat buffet of elements for your creative endeavor. Eventually you've eaten your fill, and it's time to digest and then make something. But at some point, it will be time to return to the restaurant.”
― Vera Nazarian

The word that has been chosen by Ornellaia to describe the 2021 vintage is Generosità (“Generosity”). Senatore says she was inspired by “natural elements, like the sea, wind, and stars that merge with the energy of the people who work here and create correlations that are declarations of awareness.” The labels of the 750ml bottles, double magnums, and imperials are a series of collages that feature the hands of the people who work at Ornellaia as a visual device. -2021 Ornellaia Vendemmia d’Artista: La Generosità - The Bolgheri estate has launched its latest collaboration between the worlds of art and wine - via Fine Wine
I could not have written Eden’s face. I could have painted it or drawn it, I guess, but I can’t paint or draw. I remembered that I had led feelings-forward collage workshops for teenage girls in southeastern West Virginia. I cleared my shitty wooden table and procured a small plastic scissor, a decrepit paintbrush, magazines, and crusty jar of Mod Podge—a form of glue that can go both over and beneath your creations. - Art as Inspiration: How Collage Can Help Create Compelling Characters - via Literary Hub
In recent years, the gallery’s board has learned to have more faith in the two artist trustees, and winners have tended to reflect their interests. It is therefore appropriate to thank both Tony Albert and Caroline Rothwell, who also judged last year’s prize, for this year’s very lively exhibition. The awarding of the prize to Julia Gutman’s embroidered and painted collage last year appears to have unleashed an especially lively range of entries this year. - Archibald Prize 2024: this year’s finalists range from downright fun to politically ferocious - via The Conversation
Stephen Henderson is a fine artist working with mixed media in collage, watercolors, oils and acrylics. His work as an artist has grown out of a long-standing interest in archaeology, art history and the study of cultures and religions from around the world. In each series, sculptural or two-dimensional, Stephen explores a different aspect of this interest. - Weir Farm National Park Welcomes June 2024 Artist-in-Residence - via Patch
Della Wells is an artist who creates vibrant collages, pastels, drawings, dolls and quilts, each piece echoing the journey towards self-actualization and community as a Black woman. Her studies in sociology, African American history and women’s issues profoundly influence her artistic content. - Della Wells: Major Milwaukee Artist Talks About Her Unique Style - via Shepherd Express
Continuing techniques practiced by their ancestors, Chirrime and Kiasuwa work with resonant materials that speak to the past while enabling the past to speak to the present. Rest and physical and spiritual healing are their desired outcomes. Mozambican artist Chirrime sources scrap materials from her environment and immediate communities, using fabric, thread, rope, paint, stitches and more to produce dynamic collages that speak to African womanhood and the human condition. - Knit, Restored, Woven, Healed - via Art Plugged

Our 2024 Workbook is out and available for sale on our website. Our weekly creative challenge remains free and open to everyone and everything, digital or analog artists, French or not. The workbook is an optional add-on for those who prefer to work with paper and don’t want to print our images themselves. Like every year, the book is designed so that you can either take it apart or create your collages in the book itself. Week numbers and image sources are on the back of each image, so even if your books falls apart at one point, you will always know what’s what!
And last but not least, have a look at and/or submit to our ‘other’ Instagram account Paris Collage Collective Unlimited where we showcase collages that have absolutely nothing to do with our weekly creative challenge.
If you have any news about exhibitions, publications or events you want so share with the community, please send an email with all relevant information and at least one link to a website or venue to: hello@pariscollagecollective.com
