WORDS TO LIVE BY
“It is said that children do not distinguish between living and inanimate objects; I believe they do. A child imparts a doll or a tin soldier with magical life breath. The artist animates his work as the child his toys”

So, how does she recreate the traditional appearance today? The photographer reveals it’s with the aid of RAW files. “I create multiple virtual copies, and it’s interesting to see how the editing of the same image can be different over time,” she adds. The first step is to convert the image to black and white and work on basic edits of brightness and contrast. “What happens next depends on each specific frame,” she states. Then comes the stage of adding illustrations. In some of her portraits, intricate designs function as a crown for the model, giving her a royal yet delicate look. In another picture, she adds seeds, which resemble wings on the back of another model. “The combination of techniques of photography, illustration, and collage allows me to enhance its overall depth and narrative dimensions,” she explains. - How Eva Chupikova Crafts Magic and Meaning Through Minimalism - via The Phoblographer
Rubin’s work puts a grin on my face. I love the particular shapes and colors he fit into each composition, whether I’m getting lost in the deep canals of his large red construction, in the minutia of his teeny tiny collages, or find a gallery of candy pops smiling back at me. There’s also a pleasure to discovering his work through archival research, putting together the puzzle of his mostly overlooked career as I discover forgotten artworks in unexpected places. - The Daily Heller: Teaching Color, One Pigment at a Time - via Print

Our 2024 Workbook is out and available for sale on our website. Our weekly creative challenge remains free and open to everyone and everything, digital or analog artists, French or not. The workbook is an optional add-on for those who prefer to work with paper and don’t want to print our images themselves. Like every year, the book is designed so that you can either take it apart or create your collages in the book itself. Week numbers and image sources are on the back of each image, so even if your books falls apart at one point, you will always know what’s what!
And last but not least, have a look at and/or submit to our ‘other’ Instagram account Paris Collage Collective Unlimited where we showcase collages that have absolutely nothing to do with our weekly creative challenge.
If you have any news about exhibitions, publications or events you want so share with the community, please send an email with all relevant information and at least one link to a website or venue to: hello@pariscollagecollective.com
